post, forecast, usage

The barred metal gate at the main entrance to the Grove is not often opened. There is a separate pedestrian entrance, where spiders do not ply their trade.

After following the five day weather forecast on the BBC website recently, and having found that it has very little bearing on how the days turn out, I have decided to rely in future on traditional saws such as "red sky at night, shepherds' delight; red sky in the morning shepherds' warning.

An announcement on the platform of Tunbridge Wells railway station sets me thinking: "The next train at this platform is not for customer use." It is not so much pedantry as an over active imagination that allows me to occupy my mind with alternative uses to which customers (such a strange word to apply to passengers particularly as it is so frequently ridiculed) could put a train.
