together, steam, alliums

Posted by PicasaTogether in London.

After the rain, the sun and in the sun steam rises.

Globes of florets on the alliums (ornamental onions), some white, some blue, which I planted in the Autumn. At first the globes are opaque, but when the petals fall leaving the spiky seed heads, you can see through the skeletal globes. They remain a spectacle.

Spem in alium (Latin for 'Hope in any other') is a forty-part Renaissance motet by Thomas Tallis, composed circa 1570 for eight choirs of five voices each.

But I don't think there's any horticultural link.

When I think of one, I think of the other. There is of course a problem in the case of the onion family name that it has an "l" too many.
